Low Key Weekends

DSC_5263

Our weekend was pretty low key as usual. I kicked it off taking a Pilates class at Vitality Pilates Friday evening. Instead of happy hours, my treat is an hour away from the little man to work out. Times sure have changed but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Ryan worked on Saturday so Logan and I hung out all day. We kept another baby Saturday night while some friends attended a wedding. Taking care of two babies is way harder than just one. Reality — not sure if I’m ready for #2 quite yet.

The weather was a little chilly this weekend. Doesn’t feel like summer but I keep thinking if I dress like summer, the warm weather will hurry. I keep wearing anything bright and floral!

On Sunday, we met up with my friend Ashley for lunch and strolled around Ballard. If you’re visiting Seattle, Ballard is a must stop neighborhood for the restaurants. It’s like a little Greenwich Village in Seattle. Logan got lots of Auntie Ashley snuggles and he couldn’t have been happier. When we moved from Arizona, I didn’t think we would ever live in the same city again. I am so happy Ashley lives in Seattle.

One thing I learned while pregnant was to get creative with my wardrobe. I didn’t buy many maternity items during pregnancy. One thing I did do was turn many of my dresses into tops. Don’t worry Mom, this is not my way of announcing I am pregnant again. Anyone that knows me really well knows I like my short shorts. I wear shorts anytime I get the chance. Now if only this Seattle weather will warm back up to summer temperatures.

Tonight was my first day back to an actual Pilates only studio. Since we moved further north, I decided to find a studio near the house. Working out at home has been nice and I will continue this but there is something I love about class settings. I plan to take at least one class each week at a studio. That will be my ME time. I was impressed with this studio and excited to take another class Friday evening.

I start teaching my first official weekly Pilates class next Friday. I have been attending the class the past few weeks and testing out the daycare situation with Logan. Logan is wiped out after his time in daycare.

We are halfway to Friday people!!!! As a Mom trying to juggle multiple projects, I don’t seem to ever know the difference in a Monday and Saturday though.

If you like my necklace, it’s from the jewelry rental company Rocksbox. Don’t forget, if you would like to try Rocksbox, use code BLONDEGIRAFFEXOXO at checkout to receive your first month free!!

Today drained me. We had Logan’s allergist appointment to find out if the emergency room visit was caused by the eggs. After some back pricks, we got confirmation he is allergic to eggs. Good news is that a lot of children outgrow these allergies. Our plan now is to avoid eggs for the next year and then have allergy testing again. If he is still allergic, we will do controlled allergy testing to see if he can tolerate eggs that have been exposed to higher temperatures. I have a jr epi pen that I carry around now and thankful to have these for any future allergy scares.

My Everly dress above is sold out but I linked some other Everly dresses in the same silhouette below. I got my dress from Nordstrom and it was under $50! My necklace is Kendra Scott. If you haven’t heard of Rocksbox it is an unlimited jewelry rental service. They charge $19 a month, you receive three pieces at a time and have unlimited swaps. If you would like to try Rocksbox, use code BLONDEGIRAFFEXOXO at checkout to receive your first month free.

In my first Rocksbox, I received two necklaces and a pair of earrings. One of the necklaces I tagged as liking while the other two items were picked by a stylist. I ended up only liking the necklace above chosen by the stylist. You have the option to purchase anything out of the box if you want to. I ended up sending everything back in my first box. I received by second box today and I love all three pieces. I credit the feedback I gave after the first box describing why I did or didn’t like something for getting three pieces I love. I might even purchase one of the items I received today!

Weekend Recap: Sunny in Seattle

DSC_4969

It was sunny and hot in Seattle this weekend. Finally, it felt like summer.

We ventured to Carkeek Park on Saturday. There is a little beach, picnic areas, a few meadows and even hiking trails. It’s hard to beat the views in the Pacific Northwest on sunny days.

Ryan taught tennis on Sunday. My friend Courtney came over and we spent the day on the back patio “poolside. ” I bought a kiddie pool last month and we broke it out for the first time. Logan loved the water and I’m excited to have this for the summer!

Global Running Day

Today is Global Running Day! I plan to lace up my Brooks running shoes and head out for a run. My run today will be on a track with a stroller. Now if only I can figure out if it’s best to hold the stroller with one hands or two hands? Run to the side or right behind the stroller? I spend most of my runs now changing hands, running on one side then the middle of the stroller and then the other side. So indecisive!

Little man is only crawling right now so he will enjoy his first Global Running Day in the stroller. Next year though I might have trouble keeping up with him!

Memorial Day Weekend

In the past, I have spent almost every Memorial Day at my parent’s beach house in Ocean Isle, North Carolina. Now we live on the west coast so that doesn’t happened. The summer holidays always make me miss my family. We did have a great long weekend staying home in Seattle this Memorial Day weekend. Our neighborhood view will never get old. The Pudget Sound and Olympic Mountains in the background always make me take a second and appreciate the moment.

Logan started trying to pull up to standing last week. After some determination, he succeeded in pulling up. He isn’t walking yet but I know it won’t be long and I’m not sure I am ready.

Since the inlaws were in town, we got to enjoy some baby free time. Saturday night, we tried out The Walrus and the Carpenter for a friend’s birthday. I’m glad we finally had a chance to try. As a non oyster eater, I don’t have any plans to go back. I do highly recommend for oyster lovers! I was exhausted on Sunday because Logan didn’t care that we went out. We had our normal Logan wake up call at 6am.

Sunday afternoon, we checked out North Beach Park by our house on a run. What a beautiful little trail in a ravine. I felt like we were deep in the Cascade mountains hiking miles from civilization.

I haven’t made it to any of my tennis team practices in a while. It was nice to get out and play some tennis with Ryan Sunday evening.

Once you have a child, everything in your life changes. I am constantly thinking of “baby friendly” activities to do. I know you can hike with babies but the thought of having to carry dirty diapers during our hikes is not appealing to me. I plan to stick with city activities for now. We basically live in Ballard which is a pretty family friendly city neighborhood. The Ballard Locks is one of Seattle’s most popular tourist attractions especially during the summer months. Not only is it a beautiful park, it has a fish ladder and carries more boat traffic than any other lock in the US.

I am excited to Logan to get older and take him down to watch all the boats! We have a Ballard Lock picnic in our near future!

Weekend Fitness

I love trying out new workouts or classes. When Portia asked me to join her and some friends in a Saturday afternoon pole dancing class, I didn’t hesitate. It was a fun hour of learning some introductory pole dancing moves.

I started the class with my hair in a bun but quickly let it down. I needed to be able to swing my hair around and a constricted bun didn’t allow that to happen.

At the end, we put our little routine of what we learned all together. Pole dancing pros already…

It’s always fun to try something new, have fun and not feel like you are working out!  Check out Enchant Vertical Dance in Capitol Hill if you live in Seattle and want to try. They offer classes and will hold private parties like ours too. Always good to mix up your workouts and make it a social event!

Thanks to Portia for the invite! Check out Portia’s blog Obsessed by Portia for all things lifestyle. She is always in the know on EVERYTHING happening in the Seattle area. Not to mention she is gorgeous and has the most adorable little girls! #hotmama

HAPPY FRIDAY!! It’s been a long but good week. Not excited about all the rain rolling in but it gives me an excuse to drink massive amounts of coffee all day long. Tomorrow I get to see some of my mom friends. It’s been like a month since I have seen many of them so can’t wait to see how much all the babies have changed.

Logan is crawling and on the move. He is my little monkey and never sits still.

I am loving all the off the shoulder tops this season. Love this one from Shopbop and love the lace details. Linking up this top below and some more cute ones. Enjoy and have a good weekend loves!
