I didn’t do a lot of research about pregnancy and birthing until the end of my pregnancy. For me, it was better not knowing all the details of what is to come. Most of my knowledge about birthing and post delivery is from talking to my friends who have experienced it. I think I learned 80% of what I know the past two weeks. Let’s just say I didn’t have any anxiety until I learned all this knowledge. There is a lot people don’t talk about when it comes to pregnancy and delivery.
It is currently Tuesday and my due date is this Saturday. My next doctor’s appointment is tomorrow so maybe there will be some progress towards my delivery and maybe not. I am not holding my breath because I have had no contractions or anything that hints my delivery is really close.
Over the past few days, I have spent my time researching natural ways to induce labor. Below are some of the ones I am currently trying:
- Spicy Foods: I started bumping back up the spicy foods in my diet. When we ate Thai last week I ordered a 3 instead of the usual 2 on the hot scale. The heartburn aftermath is quite painful so not sure I like this option. I love spicy foods but this has been far from my pregnancy favorites.
- Drinking Raspberry Leaf tea: I stopped by Tea Republik by our apartment today and ordered a hot tea to try. The taste was good so I bought a few ounces to make each day till baby Logan decides to arrive.
- Eating Pineapple: Pineapple contains an enzyme called bromelain that is supposed to work like a prostaglandin which ripens and softens the cervix.
This is the beginning of my attempts to convince Logan to make his arrival. As I get closer to my due date, I might add to my list.
